Korean Lash lift vs. keratin lash lift: What’s the difference?

So what is a Korean Lash Lift?

The Korean Lash Lift is an advanced method of lifting that uses an even gentler solution and specifically addresses common lash lift challenges such as downward-growing lashes, fine, thin, delicate lashes that don’t always respond well to traditional formulas and lashes that have been previously damaged by a traditional lash lift. Using a nourishing formula, it delivers beautifully lifted lashes for a clean, effortless look.

So what’s the difference between a Korean Lash Lift and a Keratin Lash Lift?

In my experience, Keratin Lash Lifts deliver beautiful results and my technique has evolved with the times since I started doing them in 2017. Though differences in technique will vary, the biggest differences between a Korean Lash Lift and a Keratin Lash Lift is the active ingredient in the activating formula. Korean Lash Lifts use a Cysteamine-based solution that is safe to apply root to tip, while my Keratin Lash Lift uses TGA (Thioglycolic Acid) and can only be applied from the root to the middle of the lash. Even though TGA based lash lift formulas have greatly improved over the years they still lead to a greater risk of dehydration and over-processing of the lash, which is why I always incorporate a conditioning step in all my lash lifts. Cysteamine-based solutions have eliminated most of those risks and I find them to work really well for a most clients.

So are Keratin Lash Lifts over?

No way! There is absolutely still a place for TGA based Lash Lifts, including Keratin Lash Lifts. Some clients’ lashes respond better to TGA, myself being one of them. There is so much nuance when it comes to lash lifts and while there are multiple options, consulting with a professional is your best course of action for the health and appearance of your lashes.
